Maantje and the Animals’ Christmas

Together with her parents and grandma, Maantje is on her way to Surinam to celebrate Christmas with Uncle Albert and Aunt Cynthia.
But however nice it is in the tropics,
Maantje longs for a Christmas with early nightfall, cold weather, candles on the tree, fire in the wood-burning stove, and lots of snow. In other words, Christmas in the Netherlands.

The reason Maantje yearns for home is that her cat Ninnoc had to stay behind and will therefore be alone for the holidays. Maantje comforts
herself with the thought that all the animals from the neighbourhood will come to their house to celebrate Christmas with Ninnoc.
Even the snowy owl pays a visit!
