Young count Jan (impeccable on the inside, impeccable on the outside) has to find a girl to marry – his father told him so.
On his quest, he takes the family tableware with him. All the girls in town are keen… Jan is received by all, the butcher, the greengrocer, the baker, at the mayor’s house. Food awaits everywhere, but you don’t want to know how it is eaten!
All around, the girls fail the test. Who are the children that are following Jan? And who lives in the little house at the edge of town, with a plume of smoke coming from the chimney?
A poetic fairytale for young and old readers.
