Melody and the Island of Music

Merit Award 3x3mag 2021

Melody lands on an island in her floating ship.

When she steps on land, her flying trumpet escapes and she rushes after it. On the island, everything and everyone seems to breathe music – the trees, the plants, the animals, but most importantly, the children who live there!  They tell Melody about songs she’s never heard, and she can’t wait to play them on her trumpet. But she’ll have to catch it first!

Join Melody on this magical and musical journey to the Island of Music!

This book began as a collection of these songs, evergreens from all over the world sung by children making music with De Vrolijkheid in asylum seekers’ centres. Songs about life, travel and mermaids. Songs that are seldom heard in the Netherlands, but still invite everyone in. De Vrolijkheid and Enzo Pérès-Labourdette put together a selection of these special songs that musicians, children and adults at other centres could play and sing together.

The songs are also available on Spotify
