One day, Princess Primula receives a letter from her friend Prince Balthasar asking her to bring the sword he forgot the last time they played together in her palace. What a scatty prince, Primula thinks, but she loves her muddle-headed friend and packs her bag for the long journey to Balthasar’s castle. Along the way, she travels through strange fantastical landscapes with jolly figures hidden between trees, in the ocean, and around the village. Finally, Primula arrives at Balthasar’s castle, but unfortunately she has lost her crown! Balthasar loans her one of his jewels, they will surely find hers again later—leaving young readers to flick through the book to find the lost crown.
