Theo Olthuis has worked as a schoolteacher and is currently a drama instructor. He writes poetry and plays for children and adults. Theo made his debut in 1984, since when he has published numerous collections of children’s poems. He has also written songs for Sesame Street and lyrics for Herman van Veen and Willem Nijholt. In 2010 Theo won the Rabobank Culture Prize.
