Edward van de Vendel mostly writes books for children and young adults. His work includes fiction, poetry, song lyrics, picture books and non-fiction.
He was born in Leerdam, The Netherlands (1964). He was a teacher in elementary schools before he became a fulltime writer in 2001. He is also the publisher of his own imprint Blauw Gras.
His books were awarded with the Theo Thijssen Award (state prize for his complete works), the Golden and Silver Slate (best book for children), he was on the shortlist of the Hans Christian Andersen Award (2024) and got a nomination for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award (5x). His books are sold to more than twenty five countries.
