Bas van Lier is a well-known and versatile writer of non-fiction books for children and adults. He also works as a journalist and has a degree in History. He has written more than sixteen non-fiction books for children.
Subjects he has written about include the environment, the sea, the European Union and money. For his book Het zeeboek (The Seabook) he received a Silver Pencil in 2003.
